어떻게 해야 좋은 맵을 만들 수 있나요?

소환사의 협곡, 저도 좋아합니다. 매번마다 플레이하는 친숙한 맵이지만 유심히 보면 맵의 부분 부분들이 세세하게 짜여져 있음을 볼 수 있습니다. 어떻게 하면 소환사의 협곡과 같은 맵을 만들 수 있을까요?
Q. 저는 게임 맵을 볼 때마다 항상 감명을 받으면서도 어떻게 만드는가가 궁금합니다. 어떤 요소가 좋은 맵을 만드는데 필요하다고 생각하시나요? 그리고 맵을 만들 때 비중있는 파트는 아트인가요? 환경 디자이너가 되기 위해 학교에서 배워야하는 추천 과목은 어떤 것인가요?
Q. I've always been fascinated with game maps, and how they are made. What elements do you think go into making a good map? Also, is art a big part of making maps? What subjects would you recommend taking at school for Environment designer.
A. There's three types of artists that go into making a game map. Environment artists, concept artists and world builders. Concept artists paint what an area or asset on the map in 2d. It's much faster to iterate on a 2d idea so there's usually a lot of paint overs and multiple concepts. Environment artists are the ones who make the assets, trees, rocks etc from those concepts. World builders take those assets and place them on a map in a way that makes sense, looks good and keeps the level flowing. To get into either position I recommend you take some 3D and 2D art courses to learn this stuff and then practice your ideas on an editor like UDK or Unity.
