Drivers

For the AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition video card we are using Catalyst 12.11 BETA 11, dated December 3rd, 2012, and the latest 12.11 CAP 2.

For the ASUS GeForce GTX 670 DC II 4GB, and the reference NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 video card we are using ForceWare 310.70 WHQL driver, dated December 17th, 2012. These were the latest drivers available during the time of testing.

We are aware that NVIDIA released the Forceware 310.90 WHQL however there was no need to retest our data because there was no performance increase in the games we tested. With our follow up ASUS GeForce GTX 670 4GB SLI review we will use the newer driver as to benefit from the Far Cry 3 SLI profile.

Here is what the release notes say is added for 310.90 over the previous driver:

Improved performance for GeForce GTX 690:

• Up to 19% faster performance in Autodesk 3ds Max when interacting with large models compared to GeForce GTX 480.

• Up to 60% faster performance in ray tracing applications such as NVIDIA iray and Chaos V-Ray (subject to the scene fitting into graphics memory) compared to GeForce GTX 480.

• Up to 76% faster performance in the 3D extruded ray tracing capability in Adobe After Effects compared to GeForce GTX 480.

NVIDIA SLI Technology

Added or updated the following SLI profiles:

• Far Cry 3 - updated

• NBA2k13 - updated
